Jimmy Groen

Jimmy (*1962, Apeldoorn), based in Gulpen - Wittem, Netherlands, is a visual artist (painting, drawing), illustrator and author under a pseudonym.

As a child, Jimmy was not allowed and unable to experience his original gender of birth. In his work, he focuses on the complex consequences of his unique background in the foster care system. He explores themes of gender and identity through creativity as a process of exploration, recovery and communication.

Jimmy creates primarily in pastel, watercolor and mixed media techniques.  Jimmy expanded his themes by nature drawing, depicting facets of the Arab world, abstract mixed medias and introducing concepts from physics in his work.   Jimmy's art is a bridge of communication between his hidden inner worlds and the outside world, that can offer more understanding for those that unwillingly face complex issues in their life, and  those searching for their true identity.
