Jimmy grew up in extreme circumstances in youth care. His experiences are visible in a mix of contemporary stories and his personal hidden narrative. Jimmy shows images from topics surrounding gender and identity that are virtually undiscussable in society. Without any education or social background, even being creative proved complex. His work is metaphorical for a life in which the special forms of forced detachment and social isolation, experimental therapy, identity destruction and cruelties that he underwent in Dutch youth care become visible again and again.

Part of his work is an attempt to discover his own creativity 'as if he had grown up normally somewhere', another part is a direct collaboration with Tim, Alex and Jimmy 11. Jimmy's work has been internationally recognized and shown at various exhibitions. He develops his skills and insights through a art project studio at the Art academy in Tongeren (B).
