Artist Statement

Rainbow Remi is two years old. He has no prejudices and does not put people into boxes. To him, everyone is simply human. His rainbow is different from the traditional rainbow, which is only a semicircle. Rainbow Remi has a full circle—a round rainbow! It is complete, closed, and whole. A rainbow in which everyone, without a single exception, is included and can find hope.
Rainbow Remi is one of the co-identities of Jimmy Groen. Remi speaks on behalf of them all, creating art as a response to a lifetime of exclusion following forced institutional identity alterations within the youth care system. The round rainbow is not a mere metaphor; it is their shelter from a fracturing society, and a radical demand for true inclusion.
