Tim and his insects

Tim has a special feeling for insects. He likes them very much: the creepy crawlies appear a lot in his drawings.

At home, it is Tim who reminds me to respect insects and spiders. He always asks: “They just want to live, just like you, don’t they?” And he’s right. So, I am not allowed to kill them. Even more: out in the fields, it's Tim that tells me to rescue insects from the drinking troughs for the livestock. We take them out with a small stick, and nothing is more beautiful than seeing such a little creature dry in the sun before it crawls or flies away...

And this works at home too!  Instead of reaching for a fly swatter, I use a jar to carefully catch them and release them outside. It feels good to show respect even to the guests I’d rather not have in my house. We shouldn't just kill animals; we should value life. Whether it’s a beetle, caterpillar, bee, or fly, seeing them live their lives makes us happy. After all, why should we consider ourselves more important than the little creatures we coexist with on this planet?

Tim loves drawing them. Over the past few years, he’s created several outlines of 'insects' which I finished. Below ar his latest from 2026
